Spark to standout
Before there’s a campaign plan or a single asset, it all starts with a spark. This session explores how standout ideas take shape—whether it’s the origin story of an event, the birth of a movement, or a new method for incubating and testing fresh concepts. You’ll hear how fundraisers capture that spark, refine it, and turn it into something that inspires, activates, and cuts through.
How to make an issue impossible to ignore
Homelessness has always felt like a problem so vast it wouldn’t be possible for one person to have an impact. Then along came Nedd Brockmann—an electrician from country New South Wales who decided to run, putting his body on the line in full public view to make the issue impossible to ignore.
Nedd's Uncomfortable Challenge didn’t just raise millions; it gave people a story to believe in, rally behind, and act on.
In this session, Bursty and We Are Mobilise share how they amplified fundraising through storytelling—showing how an audacious stunt can capture media, galvanize communities, and drive lasting social impact.

Timeless principles meet modern tools
For KWF, the spark wasn’t about inventing something new—it was about reimagining something timeless. Their belief is simple: you don’t need to reinvent fundraisers, just the tools that support them. Technology should amplify human connection, not replace it.
Their work with Funraisin shows how a classic model—door-to-door fundraising—can be translated into a digital age by mapping the virtual streets that fundraisers now walk. This session explores how KWF took a familiar spark, reshaped it with modern tools, and built a fundraising approach that feels both innovative and personal.

Reimagining DIY to do more good
The Longest Day was already a powerhouse for the Alzheimer’s Association—a beloved DIY program fundraising for a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. But even the strongest ideas need to evolve. The spark came from asking not what was working, but what was missing. How could the program give people more flexibility while empowering them to connect in ways that matter the most to them?
That question set off a complete reimagining. Do What You Love to End ALZ wasn’t just a new name—it’s a rebuilt experience that opens the door for anyone impacted by Alzheimer’s to take part in their own way.
In this session, the team shares the risks, rewards, and real-world process of reinventing a legacy program—from concept to rebuild to launch—and how a strong foundation became the spark for something even more powerful.

New rules of reach
Growing an audience today is about more than buying ads—it’s about drawing people in with approaches that feel fresh, authentic, and surprising. This session explores how fundraisers are embracing new ways to spark connection: from emerging social platforms and ambassador-led storytelling to grassroots movements and unconventional outreach. You’ll see how different teams are cultivating audiences where none existed before—and creating growth that lasts.
A bloody beautiful reboot
Reinventing a campaign that’s been around for more than 25 years is no small task. World’s Greatest Shave retired its iconic chins, unveiled a bold new brand, rebuilt the campaign on Funraisin, and stepped into a media landscape where the old playbook—free-to-air TV and mass awareness—no longer guaranteed results. The challenge was clear: how do you keep acquiring tens of thousands of people willing to shave, cut, or color for the cause?
This session explores how World’s Greatest Shave reinvented an iconic campaign for a new era—through bold creative shifts, a full digital rebuild, and smarter ways of reaching supporters. That ambition is already paying off, with green shoots of growth and proof that fresh strategies can keep even the most established campaigns sparking new sign-ups.

The TikTok playbook for fundraisers
TikTok isn’t just for dancing—it’s where the next generation of supporters spend their time. GYSS and Teenage Cancer Trust cracked the code most charities miss: it’s not about going viral, it’s about turning scrollers into fundraisers.
In this session, you’ll see how, through a combination of platform-native video content, conversion campaigns and a new journey on Funraisin, Teenage Cancer Trust managed to reach and convert a new audience of givers.

The walk that built a donor base
What if your next event wasn’t built to raise money—but to grow your audience?
At UHN Foundation, that spark led to We Walk UHNITED presented by Rogers, a bold peer-to-peer event that became the front door to the organization. It welcomed thousands of new supporters and smashed acquisition goals, proving that sometimes the smartest play is to focus on reach first.
The real challenge was mindset: investing in an event where the primary goal wasn’t immediate fundraising, but acquisition. It was a risk—with even bigger reward. We Walk UHNITED became the little walk that could, redefining how to reach people, build community connection, and create growth that lasts.

Attention into action
Capturing attention is only the beginning—what happens next determines whether interest turns into impact. This session explores the landing experiences and activation tactics that drive people forward: from smart UX and trust-building design to strategies that transform passive sign-ups into active fundraisers. You’ll see how different teams create a clear through line from inspiration to conversion.
Fighting discrimination with perspiration
Most campaigns ask you to register. Sweat with Pride asks you to join a team.
The Perspirational Trainers—drag queens and kings turned campaign personas—weren’t just a brilliant acquisition hook. They gave supporters a team to rally behind, fuel for friendly rivalry, and a stream of playful content that carried people through the whole journey.
This session explores how one creative idea powered both sign-up and activation, keeping supporters moving, fundraising, and coming back for a new experience each year.

The 122% difference between showing up and stepping up
What do you do when a signature event starts to plateau?
For BC Children's Hospital Foundation (BCCHF), the challenge wasn't getting people to register—it was inspiring them to fundraise. Each year, nearly 10,000 people take part in BCCHF's RBC Race for the Kids, a beloved community event with deep roots and loyal supporters. But even the strongest events can lose pace without fresh energy.
Between 2019 and 2024, the team reignited momentum, driving a 122% lift in peer-to-peer fundraising revenue. Their approach? Small, consistent shifts that built momentum toward big results. From smart UX decisions to creative activation tactics, this session breaks down the moments that turned casual participants into committed fundraisers.
If you're working with a loyal but quiet audience or looking to breathe new life into a legacy event, this is your playbook for picking up the pace—and keeping it.

Connection that lasts
A true supporter is worth the sky, the stars and the moon. The challenge—and the opportunity—is turning a single moment of generosity into a lasting relationship. This session explores how charities nurture true connection: sparking love for the mission, creating experiences that feel personal, and sustaining commitment without overwhelming people with asks. You’ll hear how fundraisers are keeping passion alive over time—and see the creative ways they’re building lasting connection.
What every fundraiser can learn from a 24-hour giving day
Every spring, RSPCA shelters brace for a surge—more animals arriving, more cruelty reports, more need than ever. Give to Get Them Home was built to meet that moment: one national day that rallies thousands of supporters and doubles donations in just 24 hours.
The campaign now raises millions in mere hours—and has become one of Australia’s most successful Giving Days.
Strip a Giving Day down to its core and you’re left with three powerful constants: matching that multiplies generosity, urgency that drives action, and a rallying cry that unites people around a shared goal.
This session unpacks those mechanics and explores how you can apply them to any campaign—using the same principles to guide supporters, re-engage donors, and help those touched by your cause reach their next moment of giving.

Scaling a virtual challenge into a $1M+ movement
The EMF Distance Challenge began as a crisis response during COVID. Today, this fully virtual campaign is the flagship fundraiser for Expect Miracles Foundation—raising over $1 million annually and driving 39% revenue growth in 2025.
The real challenge wasn’t just going virtual—it was figuring out how to truly connect with a new generation of supporters. For EMF, that meant doubling down on young professionals and going all in on a mobile-first experience to power the financial services industry. By streamlining away from lower-ROI events and investing in the Distance Challenge, they built a high energy virtual challenge fueled by friendly competition.
This session unpacks how EMF turned a crisis response into a movement—proving that virtual challenges can spark genuine connection and turn participants into champions for a cause.

Rethinking your data
We’re swimming in data—but the real breakthroughs come from asking the right questions. This session explores fresh ways to uncover meaning: layering different sources, digging into often-overlooked signals, spotting patterns others miss, and turning insights into strategy. You’ll see how charities are finding the hidden pearls in their supporter data—and using them to shape smarter, more responsive campaigns.
WWF-Australia's AI Roadmap
Everyone’s talking about AI—but what does getting started really look like? At WWF, it means training copilots to take on the busy work, testing tools that surface insights faster than a spreadsheet, and exploring how AI can support teams at every level of the organization. They don’t pretend to have all the answers, but they’re already learning what works, what doesn’t, and where the biggest opportunities lie.
This session lifts the lid on WWF’s early experiments and the bets they’re making on AI to reshape how they collaborate and fundraise.

Signals that shape the ask
Everyone talks about personalization. Dementia UK are showing us what it looks like in practice—at scale—using the data already in their system to create supporter experiences that feel personal.
The result: higher average gifts, stronger conversions, and proof that even simple tweaks—like personalizing dollar handles—can drive significant results. Dementia UK continues to learn from these results, investing in data and exploring how similar approaches could benefit future events and campaigns.
This session shares what’s working so far, what’s still being tested, and where other organizations might find opportunities to improve their own fundraising strategies.

Making the right moves with personalization and privacy
In fundraising, data is your chessboard—and every move matters. The real power doesn’t lie in collecting more pieces, but in how you play them. Data might be king, but it’s the strategy—the queen—that wins the game.
This session rethinks what data means for personalization today: from the signals you already hold to the ones supporters are willing to share. We’ll explore how simple “magic questions” can reveal what truly matters to people, and how to combine that with behavioral insights, external overlays, and smart use of AI to create experiences that feel deeply personal—without crossing privacy lines.
You’ll leave with a practical roadmap for turning insight into action: lean data practices for peer-to-peer, metrics that actually matter, and strategies that strengthen supporter trust. Because in the game of data, the smartest move isn’t collecting more—it’s playing your pieces wisely.
