Changes to Meta Facebook Fundraising Tools for European Economic Area (EEA)

25 Apr 2024

What it means for you and how we are helping

Unfortunately, Meta will end fundraising tools for the European Economic Area (EEA) on July 1, 2024.

Currently, it does not impact any Meta-supported markets outside of Europe.

To help you navigate the changes in Facebook Fundraising, we have detailed below what’s coming up over the next few months and how you can manage the transition for your charity.

It's also essential to future-proof your campaigns and prepare for the upcoming changes. Rest assured, we can help with tested and proven flows that work.

🆕 One-click flows designed for Instagram and Facebook audiences that convert even higher than traditional Facebook forms.
🔀 Unlimited registration and lead gen flows that drop users straight into a web fundraising page.
📈 Proven to have a higher value page ROI on your ad spend than traditional Facebook flows.
🔛 Set up custom pop-ups and redirects to point your supporters where you want them to go after automatically getting their fundraising page.
📩 Set up automated personalised journeys and nudges.

Here is what you can practically do if you run Facebook-only campaigns.

1. Optimise Your Ads, switch to a new sign-up flow

While Facebook and Instagram continue to excel in lead ad acquisition - integrate a dedicated Funraisin sign up and fundraising acquisition flow within your Ads. Make sure you track your success using our short URLs for one-to-one matching and the platform conversion insights within the events module.

2. Maintain your FB groups, anticipate questions

Facebook Groups are essential for nurturing community engagement around challenges, similar to how potential consumers look for numerous reviews before purchasing goods. Keep these groups active, but be ready for a surge in queries, prevalent ones like "I can't find my page," as you transition to a new fundraising flow on Funraisin.

3. Adding page tours, refine your email + SMS Journeys to enhance page engagement and sharing

One of Facebook fundraising's standout features was its ability to easily share a Facebook fundraiser automatically to friends' feeds. With a shift to a web fundraising page that may not look and feel like a Facebook fundraiser, it will be crucial to emphasise design and UX and motivate your supporters to share their fundraising pages on their social networks. This approach helps maintain visibility and engagement. Talk to our team about a page tour and nudges to drive page engagement and sharing behaviour.

4. Communicate with anyone who has a Facebook Fundraiser

Communicate to your supporters what's happening and what they should do 👇

5. Automatically set up a web fundraising page for Facebook fundraisers

If your campaign will be going past the closure dates, make sure your supporters have a web fundraising page so they can keep raising money for your charity without interuption. The Funraisin platform can generate on mass or on an individual bases a personlised and branded fundraising pages that can be easily claimed (If they dont have a page already)
