What is DAF Day?
DAF Day is an American giving day dedicated to donor-advised funds. Held each year on the second Thursday in October, it brings donors, nonprofits and DAF providers together around a shared moment of generosity and encourages DAF holders to recommend grants to the causes they care about.
For nonprofits, it's also a timely opportunity to make it easier for donors to give from the charitable funds they've already set aside.
Make sure you're ready for October 8
With DAFpay by Chariot connected to Funraisin, US donors can give directly from their donor-advised fund through your online donation experience. DAFpay works across your Funraisin donation forms, including P2P and DIY fundraising pages, so supporters can seamlessly make a DAF gift to the fundraiser or campaign that inspired them to give.
If you haven't connected your DAFpay account yet, don't wait until DAF Day. While the setup is quick in Funraisin, if you don’t already have a DAFpay account, that does require some lead time.
Get your donation forms DAF-ready
To enable DAFpay on your Funraisin platform, you'll need to provide your organization's name, EIN and contact information in Admin > Platform Setup > Payment Settings > DAFpay Settings. Your EIN is used to connect your organization with Chariot. If you already have a Chariot account, it can be connected; if you don't, one will be created and the Chariot team will follow up to complete the setup.
Once your account shows as Connected, you can enable DAFpay. It will be available on sponsored donation forms, and you can turn it on for existing standard donation forms as well. New donation forms will have DAFpay enabled by default.
Don't leave DAF gifts on the table
Getting set up before DAF Day means your supporters have a simple way to act on their generosity when they're ready to give, potentially unlocking the vast generosity set aside in donor advised funds.
If you're a US nonprofit and haven't connected DAFpay yet, take a few minutes now to get ready for October 8.
Frequently asked questions about DAF Day and DAFpay
When is DAF Day 2026?
DAF Day 2026 is on Thursday, October 8. It's held every year on the second Thursday in October, and it's a US giving day for donors who give through donor-advised funds.
What is a donor-advised fund (DAF)?
A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account. A donor puts money in, gets a tax benefit when they do, and later recommends grants from it to the nonprofits they choose. Many donors have DAF money already set aside for giving, so DAF Day is a good time to make those gifts easy.
What is DAFpay?
DAFpay by Chariot is a payment option that lets US donors give straight from their donor-advised fund on a nonprofit's online donation form. When you connect it to Funraisin, DAF giving becomes part of your usual online donation experience.
Which Funraisin donation forms support DAFpay?
DAFpay works across your Funraisin donation forms, including peer-to-peer (P2P) and DIY fundraising pages. It's available on sponsored donation forms, you can turn it on for existing standard donation forms, and new donation forms have it switched on by default.
Can supporters give a DAF gift to a peer-to-peer fundraiser?
Yes. Because DAFpay works on P2P and DIY fundraising pages, a supporter can make a DAF gift to the fundraiser or campaign that inspired them to give.
How do I set up DAFpay in Funraisin?
Go to Admin > Platform Setup > Payment Settings > DAFpay Settings and enter your organization's name, EIN and contact details. When your account shows as Connected, you can turn DAFpay on for your donation forms.
Do I need a Chariot account to use DAFpay?
No, not before you start. If you already have a Chariot account, Funraisin uses your EIN to connect it. If you don't have one, an account is created for you and the Chariot team will follow up to finish setup. Allow some extra time for that step if you're new to Chariot.
How long does DAFpay setup take?
The Funraisin side takes a few minutes. If you don't have a DAFpay account yet, Chariot needs some lead time to finish setting you up, so starting early means you'll be ready by October 8.
Who can use DAFpay?
DAFpay is for US nonprofits that are eligible to receive gifts from donor-advised funds, and for their US-based donors.
